We’re thrilled to welcome Norfolk’s own WhataHoot Distillery to the Family of Distillers.
Based in beautiful and historic Kings Lynn, WhataHoot is owned and operated by Norfolk natives Jason and Nikki Crown. Just a stone’s throw from Sandringham Estate, WhataHoot Distillery was the perfect craft gin producer to craft our May Gin of the Month.
WhataHoot Hushwing Gin is a crowd pleasing gin with fresh citrus flavours, a gentle warmth from pink peppercorn and a full-bodied mouthfeel from sea samphire.
Graham McAteer, Craft Gin Club’s Spirits Exert, says, “Hushwing is a superbly balanced gin, perfect for all occasions and celebrations.”
This gin is a beautiful tribute to the Crowns’ native Norfolk. The sea samphire is locally sourced, where this botanical’s name is pronounced ‘sam-fer’.
As Jason says, “Norfolk has its own vocabulary.”
This is evidenced in the name of May’s Gin of the Month: ‘hushwing’ is the local parlance for a barn owl.
“You can see owls early in the morning and hear them late at night in most rural locations of Norfolk,” Jason says, “and we love them.”
